Romantic Date Ideas for Travellers to Hong Kong

With cultural sites, beaches, and more restaurants than you can shake a fork at, Hong Kong is filled with couple-friendly and romantic destinations for partners looking to explore new parts of the world together. Read on to get inspiration on where to go for your next love-filled getaway in Hong Kong.

Day 1

11am–4pm

Hong Kong Disneyland’s Inspiration Lake Recreation Centre

Spend a magical day out in the sun at Hong Kong Disneyland’s Inspiration Lake Recreation Centre. Just a short walk away from the park itself, you’ll will be transfixed by the surrounding lush greenery, Midwestern-style architecture, and a beautiful 12-hectare artificial lake. Turn your outing into a romantic day out by bringing along a picnic basket filled with finger foods and a bottle of bubbly! Don’t feel like planning? No worries — there is a convenience store located on-site so you’ll be able to load up on snacks, drinks, and even microwave meals, if that’s your idea of romance. Afterwards, burn off some calories and rent a pedal boat or surrey bike to test out your collaboration skills.

OR

11pm–4pm

Pui O Beach

If you’re looking to be even closer to nature, pack your swimming gear and head over to Pui O Beach for a light swim, followed by a meal at Treasure Island Beach Club. A popular one-stop shop for beachgoers, visitors can kick back and listen to the sound of the waves while enjoying a Western menu of seasonal favourites along with vegetarian and vegan offerings. Splurge on the free-flow drinks package for unlimited non-alcoholic coolers, beer, wine, and prosecco.

5pm–7pm

Sheung Wan

Make your way down to Hong Kong Island and spend a few hours exploring Central and Sheung Wan, including the art galleries and vibrant street art in the area, and snap a few hundred pics while you’re at it. You’ll find colourful murals such as the iconic Old Hong Kong Skyline on Graham Street, and a vibrant painting of Marilyn Monroe on Hollywood Road. Check out other photo-worthy murals with our insider’s guide to street art in Hong Kong

7:30pm–10:30pm

Old Bailey

End your art crawl at Tai Kwun, an old revitalised police station-turned-art hub, and rest your feet at Old Bailey. Serving a wide range of authentic Jiangnan food as well as decadent Shanghainese dim sum, this elegantly designed restaurant also has an outdoor lounge area ideal for an intimate evening of alfresco drinking under the stars. If you’re in the mood for lobster tail and roast beef, give British restaurant Statement a try, or opt for a meal at chef David Thompson’s Thai restaurant Aaharn to wrap up your romantic adventures on day one with a touch of spice.

Day 2

10:30am–1pm

Dragon's Back

Kick start your day with one of Hong Kong’s best urban hikes, Dragon’s Back. Depending on your pace, the average hiking time ranges from two and a half to four hours, with the trail starting on Shek O Road and ending at Big Wave Bay. Along the trail, you’ll be able to catch stunning views of southern Hong Kong Island, including the Shek O golf course, beaches, and other outlying islands. Stop at Shek O Peninsula Viewing Point for an Insta-worthy couple’s selfie with Shek O Beach as backdrop.

1:30pm–3:30pm

Elementary

After an active morning, you have earned yourselves a delicious meal at Elementary, a chic restaurant nestled in the heart of Tai Hang. Drawing influences from Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, the eatery’s delicious and photogenic dishes are perfect for refuelling after a big hike. We highly recommend that you try the Chilli Crab Pasta and Duck Heart Kebabs, and finish off the meal by sharing a sweet Peach Panna Cotta with your loved one.

4pm–6pm

Plateau Spa

Having filled your tummies, it’s time to pamper your sore muscles with a couple’s massage at the renowned Plateau Spa in Grand Hyatt, Wan Chai. An urban oasis offering a plethora of spa promotions and packages, you’ll be spoilt for choice with lush treatments that include top-of-the-line products that will revive your body and make your skin glow. If you happen to be in town for your sweetheart’s special day, the Birthday Delight package, which includes a 90-minute massage, a glass of wine or juice, and personalised gifts, makes for the perfect gift.

6:30pm–9:30pm

The Fuss

Now that you’re feeling refreshed and energised, make your way to Worth The Fuss, a cosy little cocktail bar perched on the outskirts of Wan Chai. Choose from a selection of fine whisky concoctions, wines, beers, and, if you’re feeling adventurous, ask the friendly bartenders to fix you up with a cocktail of their choice!  If you’re feeling a little peckish, nibble on some bar snacks while mingling with the staff, who are known for their energy and hospitality, making every customer feel right at home. Add to that live music and great cocktails, and you’ve got yourselves an unforgettable night.

10pm onwards

Ichiran

Complete your evening with a naughty carb-fest at Ichiran in Causeway Bay, or visit their Tsim Sha Tsui location if you’re staying on the Kowloon side. The hearty Tonkotsu ramen makes for a satisfying roundup of your adventures in Hong Kong. Don’t worry if you get carried away with your conversation: the restaurant is open 24 hours a day, so you can take your time reminiscing about your trip with your special someone.
