Horse racing has been Hong Kong’s most popular sport since the city became a British colony in 1842. Asia’s world city boasts more punters per capita and the highest racing turnover in the world, in spite of fierce competition from football gambling. Now you can experience this famous Hong Kong spectacle in style by spending either a day at Sha Tin or an evening at Happy Valley in the plush comfort of the Hong Kong Jockey Club Members' Enclosure. Giant video screens (the Sha Tin screen is the longest in the world) face the stands, so you’ll never lose track of the horses or the heart-stopping action. Picking your favourite could not be easier either – simply place your bets at the Jockey Club's fully computerised on-course betting terminals. These are linked with over 100 off-course betting branches throughout the territory, so even those not attending the tracks can reap rewards. Race meetings are held on most Wednesday evenings and weekends from September to early July. Check the horse racing schedule and racing events on the Hong Kong Jockey Club website. The tour includes an international buffet, unlimited drinks and a $30 betting voucher to get you started!
