Looking for a fun-packed family holiday? Hong Kong Disneyland is the place to be. Apart from spending the day taking photos with favourite Disney characters and hitting star attractions, there are also plenty of things to see and do that celebrate the unique culture of Hong Kong, making this theme park unique. Raring to go? Follow this ultimate guide to plan a visit to Hong Kong Disneyland.
Located on Lantau Island, Hong Kong Disneyland has its own MTR resort line that connects from Sunny Bay Station. It is also accessible from bus routes R33 and R42, taxi, or even by ferry from the Tsim Sha Tsui Star Ferry Pier—there’s only one Disney-bound ride scheduled per day (11am), so make sure to arrive early! If planning to stay overnight at one of the Disneyland hotels or tackle the park over the span of two days, look out for exclusive park and hotel packages on Disneyland’s website.
With tickets in hand, head into the park for a day of fun with the beloved Disney characters and rides. Scope out the seven themed lands and don’t miss the Marvel experiences with an aerial tour of the Hong Kong Stark Tower with Tony Stark at the Iron Man Experience and meet the Iron Man himself! Team up with Ant-Man and the Wasp to help fight off Swarmbots from invading the S.H.I.E.L.D. Pavilion in ‘Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle!’.
Hop over to Mystic Manor, a Hong Kong-exclusive attraction, and ride through its enchanted museum and animated galleries where everything comes to life! Looking for a stimulating experience? Thrill-seekers can make their way over to the Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars and RC Racer to test their limits.
For princesses, go for a head-to-toe royal makeover at the New Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, where the Fairy Godmother-in-training will get the little ones fitted in a princess costume of choice, style their hair, and finish the look off with some shimmery makeup and a perfect manicure. Kids who prefer a more action-packed, hands-on experience could opt for Jedi Training and battle against Darth Vader at Tomorrowland. Meet Disney’s favourite characters and take a photo that will last a lifetime!
As for those searching for some all-round family entertainment, catch a glimpse of all the beloved Disney princesses and characters at the Flights of Fantasy Parade, which only happens during the daytime. Families can also sit back and enjoy Disney’s very own musical theatre shows, such as Festival of the Lion King and Mickey and the Wondrous Book, which features live vocalists, Disney characters, and dancers. End the day by joining the crowd on Main Street, U.S.A. to enjoy the ‘Disney Paint the Night’ Parade.
Celebrate all these adventures with a taste of authentic Chinese cuisine. For a quicker bite inside the theme park, try the Comet Cafe or River View Cafe for some Hong Kong-style fast foods. There are plenty of dining options at Disneyland’s three hotels for those with a little bit more time on their hands. To taste the flavours of provincial China, visit Dragon Wind at the Disney Explorers Lodge, or Crystal Lotus at the park’s flagship hotel, which has exquisite Chinese specialities, fun Disney character-shaped dim sum, and everything in-between. There may even be a chance to meet the Disney characters at the hotels during meals.
There are currently three hotels at the park—the newest being the Disney Explorers Lodge, the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel, and Disney’s Hollywood Hotel. Disney Explorers Lodge has spacious themed gardens with decorative artwork that will give mini explorers plenty of room to run around. The Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel is the park’s flagship hotel, and is styled with lavish, Victorian-style interiors, offering its guests an upscale experience for both adults and kids. The Disney’s Hollywood Hotel is more relaxed and livelier in comparison, featuring many family-friendly amenities such as outdoor playgrounds, game rooms, and character dining options, where the little ones can meet Chef Mickey in person! Hotel guests may enjoy the amenities of all three hotels and there are even themed hotel rooms of Disney classics to explore.
