Want to escape the city’s hustle and bustle? A day trip to Sai Kung is all you need to replenish and unwind. With dramatic coastlines and unspoilt islands, Hong Kong’s ‘back garden’ is the perfect backdrop for the Sai Kung Hoi Arts Festival.

Themed ‘Joy Again, Isle’, the three-year festival takes you on a healing journey of art and nature from Yim Tin Tsai as the centre to Sharp Island, and later to Kau Sai Chau and High Island. Showcasing the scenic beauty and cultural heritage of the serene islands, the festival connects visitors with nature and local stories through a series of unique artworks.

A sweet ending at Sai Kung town centre

Wouldn’t it be perfect to end your day with a cup of coffee or a scoop of ice cream? The town centre of Sai Kung is home to a range of cosy cafes where you can enjoy light bites with a cuppa. Try the Japanese coffee shop Kachimushi on See Cheung Street, the two-storey cafe NN Coffee, the ice cream shop Hushhush, or Law of Yogurt on Fuk Man Road.

Take a stroll around the town centre and you’ll discover giant murals around every corner. These artworks were created during the HKWalls Street Art & Mural Festival in 2021— and don’t forget to take a picture for Instagram!
